The Saints Return…With a Vengeance – An Interview with Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flanery, and Their Fans

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Ten years ago, director Troy Duffy went from just another LA bartender to Hollywood’s next big thing to sleeping one off on someone else’s floor. His script for The Boondock Saints was hot, attracting the backing of the Weinsteins with names like Ewan McGregor and Stephen Dorff up for parts. Then, depending on who you hear the story from (former friends, emphasis on the “former”, chronicle their take in the 2003 documentary Overnight), Duffy pissed a lot of people off and Columbine happened; nobody wanted anything to do with his stylized and glorified vigilante movie anymore. It was probably a bit of both. Still, Duffy kept at it, managing a practically-straight-to-video release from Franchise Pictures (excepting a brief five screen release rumored to be paid out of his own pocket).

Critics panned it across the board… READ MORE

The Comic Series – Boondock Saints : “The Lost Gig”

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

On the heels of the recent theatrical release of THE BOONDOCK SAINTS II: ALL SAINTS DAY, comes THE BOONDOCK SAINTS: “THE LOST GIG”. Acting as a primer to the highly anticipated comic series, THE BOONDOCK SAINTS: “IN NOMINE PATRIS”, “The Lost Gig” is destined to thrill both Boondock Saints and comic book fans alike.

Written by BOONDOCK SAINTS creator/writer/director TROY DUFFY and comic scribe J.B. LOVE, (with art and cover by TOBY CYPRESS) “The Lost Gig” is a brand new “in canon” story that ties directly into the first Boondock Saints film. “The Lost Gig” features fan favorite character ROCCO along with the BROTHERS McMANUS as they take on a group of drug dealers, right before their famous encounter with Vincenzo.

Fleshing out this special one shot is an EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with Troy Duffy, behind the scenes art from Toby Cypress, as well as a sneak-peek of May’s THE BOONDOCK SAINTS: “IN NOMINE PATRIS”.

My Movie Crush: ‘Young Indiana Jones Chronicles” Sean Patrick Flanery

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Like most of us geek folk, I’ve always harbored an intense crush on the dashing archeologist-adventurer Dr. Henry “Indiana” Jones, Jr., played famously on the silver screen by the dashing Harrison Ford. Through Indiana Jones’s three classic major motion pictures, I lusted after (and envied) the scruffy, rough-and-tumble hero (not so much in the lame 2008 sequel, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as he adventured to exotic locales, rescued Indian slave children, slept with hot Nazi women, and cracked his whip all over the globe. But manly and heroic as the adult Indy was, his younger self made my young pulse race in an entirely different way. And so, this week’s Movie Crush is dedicated not to the hunky Harrison Ford but to his blue-eyed teen counterpart: Sean Patrick Flanery.

“The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles,” conceived by… READ MORE
