Saints star in town for special screening

Friday, November 13th, 2009

After 10 years, the Boondocks Saints have come out of hiding, and Sean Patrick Flanery says all your questions about the vigilante fraternal twins will be answered in the new film.

However, if you need more answers, Flanery will take your questions after the screening of The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day at 7:50 tonight at the Edwards Marq*E Theater, 7600 Katy Freeway.

Flanery, who grew up in Sugar Land and often returns to visit his parents, stars as Connor MacManus. In the 1999 film, Connor teams with his brother Murphy (Norman Reedus) to rid Boston of evil. It’s a bloody job.

When the sequel opens, the violent brothers have been living undercover in Ireland with their father, Il Duce (Billy Connolly). The murder of a beloved priest brings the Saints back to Boston. They find a comrade, played by Clifton Collins Jr. (Star Trek), and dodge an FBI operative, played by Julie Benz (Dexter).

Flanery says the … READ MORE

I had the opportunity to interview Sean Patrick Flanery, who twice had the chance to play Connor MacManus in the cult-hit The Boondock Saints and the upcoming sequel Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. On a warm day in West Hollywood outside his Brazilian Ju Jitsu academy, we spoke of the upcoming sequel and what it’s like to make movies with the fans in mind.

SPF: We really want to treat Boondock Saints II like the film that it is. We want to give back to the fans. We don’t necessarily want to do Entertainment Tonight and things like that when we promote it. When the first film came out, everyone who gave us those great write-ups and reviews were these underground magazines and bloggers, you know, the cult following. We want to give all the interviews to those types of people. A strong voice in the underground, not necessarily some premiere magazine.

BH: You mentioned the cult-following of the first film. That movie poster seems … READ MORE

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day Movie Interview – Sean Patrick Flannery & Norman Reedus

Boondock Saints II interview by Cinema Blend

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

14667Who would have thought we’d see a sequel to The Boondock Saints? First of all, the film didn’t have much of a theatrical run and even after it attained cult status via DVD, the hope to make a second was an on again, off again concept. Well, the time has come. The film is complete and we’re less than two months away from its release.

Its obvious there are tons of fans out there psyched about seeing the McManus brothers back in action in The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, but it’s Conner McManus himself, Sean Patrick Flanery, that is especially thrilled about the October 30th release. Yes, in Hollywood when you have a film as successful as The Boondock Saints, a sequel is likely in the future, but All Saints Day is far from a mere effort to capitalize on the success of the original film. It’s particularly special for the fans and the cast as well. Eleven years later, there’s nothing Sean would rather do than bring back Conner McManus.

The Boondocks Saints was only initially released on five screens in the entire county. Did you ever think it would amass such a large cult following?

I never knew. You never know. I knew a lot of people dug it… READ MORE

Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day Movie Trailer – Trailer #1

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

IGN premiers the trailer for Troy Duffy’s The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, which will be released by Sony’s Stage 6 Films in limited theaters on October 30th.

The film is the continuation of Duffy’s tough, stylized cutting edge saga of fraternal twins, the MacManus brothers (Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flanery). The two have been in deep hiding in the quiet valleys of Ireland, far removed from their former lives or modern technologies. When word comes that a priest has been killed by sinister forces in the tough underworld of Boston, they return to mount a violent and bloody crusade to bring justice to those who must now suffer the consequences, with a new partner in crime (Clifton Collins) and a sexy FBI operative (Julie Benz) hot on their trail!
