Arizona Sports and Lifestyle Magazine went to Hollywood to interview Sean Patrick Flanery about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and films he’s starred in, including his latest film: The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. You can view the article in the flip magazine version here, and/or also in the .pdf version here.

Bodybuilder, Stryker stopped in to Hollywood Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to visit Sean Patrick Flanery and interview him about his very unique sport. Sean told Stryker about his start in Martial Arts and how he eventually found his way in to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He also spoke of finding something you’re passionate about when looking for the right kind of workout. The duo then hit the mat where Sean showed Stryker some of the key moves in Hollywood Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Kudos to the students at Hollywood Brazilian Jiu Jitsu who were demonstrating their seriously intense workouts! Oh, and Donut was there too, supervising all that was going on at the school. Look for a video coming to YouTube shortly.

Sean Patrick Flanery isn’t hungry right now, but lunchtime couldn’t come any sooner. On this chilly afternoon in the heart of New York City, the world-renowned actor is strapped with a backpack on 8th Ave. walking down 45th St. There’s a cup of coffee in his right hand and he’ll need the caffeine because he has a long afternoon of chatting with the media to promote his latest flick The Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day, sequel to the cult classic The Boondock Saints, released ten years earlier.
Although the press day sounds exciting, the 44-year-old is looking forward to something else… READ MORE

Some guys act tough on screen. Sean Patrick Flanery is tough both on screen and off.
“Every single day that I am off, I’m training three hours a day and it’s not because I have some aspirations of an MMA career,” says The Boondock Saints star and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt. “I just fucking love it, man. I absolutely love it. I cannot get enough of it.”… READ MORE

“I’m coming soon… I’m coming soon… don’t move, don’t move… Oh my God, you moved! Ahhh Ahhh!”
Yes, this interview begins with a rather adolescent take on our site’s good name, and it ends with a laugh, so you know you’re dealing with a filmmaker who knows how to have a good time.
That filmmaker is Troy Duffy, who became a household name in Tinseltown when Miramax paid the Boston bartender $450,000 to write and direct his debut film with a budget of $15 million dollars, making him the kind of rags-to-riches success story the media revels in. That was 1997. Two years later, the film had been completed for less than half that budget and without the participation of Miramax, who had pulled out due to creative conflicts with Duffy. The independent distributor who purchased the movie The Boondock Saints barely released it in theaters and it marched solemnly to the direct-to-video graveyard.
Typically, this is where the Wikipedia entry ends, possibly with addendums like “Troy Duffy has not been interviewed since 1999, and currently works as a bartender in Boston.”
However, The Boondock Saints, like its main characters, was not a movie that simply lays down and dies and its director has not gone gentle into that good night. When “Saints” was… READ MORE

CHICAGO – “There’s not a bigger ‘f*ck you!’ from Hollywood than when they say: ‘Eh, we’re not going to release this film.’” But then the fans say: “Oh, you know what? About $100 million says that you are retarded. It says that you made a bad decision,” “The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day” star Sean Patrick Flanery said in a Chicago interview with… READ MORE

Born in Lake Charles, La. and raised in Sugar Land, Sean Patrick Flanery graduated from Dulles High School and attended the University of St. Thomas, where he fell in love with acting.
I talked to him about personal safety (he has a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu), his homecoming to Houston and his recently released movie, “The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day”.
29-95: When you come back to Houston, where do you go?
Sean Patrick Flanery: (without any hesitation) Luby’s. A close second is James Coney Island. I miss Luby’s. A lot.
29-95: There are no Luby’s in L.A.?
SPF: No. Nothing like it. I drive quite a bit. Sometimes I’ll take the 10 when I drive from L.A. and I know the first Luby’s is in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Coming back, it’s the last fucking Luby’s.
29-95: Growing up, Han Solo was my role model for bad-ass. Who was your bad-ass? … READ MORE
