CRESTLINE — A Crestline movie director’s latest project will hit stores Tuesday.
For Robert Kurtzman, “Deadly Impact” was an opportunity to expand his talents into a new genre.
“This movie is an action-thriller, and my first non-horror film,” Kurtzman said. “It’s hard to break out of the one genre, but I’m a big action movie fan. I loved working on this.”
Kurtzman’s South Thoman Street studio, Precinct 13, is a full-service, state-of-the-art media production facility. He opened it in 2004.
The company is best known for makeup and creature effects.
Its involvement with “Deadly Impact” began during the summer of 2007.
“We had just done ‘Buried Alive’ with Dave Greathouse,” Kurtzman said, referring to a special effects makeup artist. “About a year later he came to me about this project.”
The made-for-DVD movie, produced by MGM Home Entertainment, tells the story of a police officer whose life collides with a powerful assassin.
