The Saints Return…With a Vengeance – An Interview with Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flanery, and Their Fans

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Ten years ago, director Troy Duffy went from just another LA bartender to Hollywood’s next big thing to sleeping one off on someone else’s floor. His script for The Boondock Saints was hot, attracting the backing of the Weinsteins with names like Ewan McGregor and Stephen Dorff up for parts. Then, depending on who you hear the story from (former friends, emphasis on the “former”, chronicle their take in the 2003 documentary Overnight), Duffy pissed a lot of people off and Columbine happened; nobody wanted anything to do with his stylized and glorified vigilante movie anymore. It was probably a bit of both. Still, Duffy kept at it, managing a practically-straight-to-video release from Franchise Pictures (excepting a brief five screen release rumored to be paid out of his own pocket).

Critics panned it across the board… READ MORE

Precinct 13′s first thriller “Deadly Impact” will be in stores next week

Friday, April 16th, 2010

CRESTLINE — A Crestline movie director’s latest project will hit stores Tuesday.

For Robert Kurtzman, “Deadly Impact” was an opportunity to expand his talents into a new genre.

“This movie is an action-thriller, and my first non-horror film,” Kurtzman said. “It’s hard to break out of the one genre, but I’m a big action movie fan. I loved working on this.”

Kurtzman’s South Thoman Street studio, Precinct 13, is a full-service, state-of-the-art media production facility. He opened it in 2004.

The company is best known for makeup and creature effects.

Its involvement with “Deadly Impact” began during the summer of 2007.

“We had just done ‘Buried Alive’ with Dave Greathouse,” Kurtzman said, referring to a special effects makeup artist. “About a year later he came to me about this project.”

The made-for-DVD movie, produced by MGM Home Entertainment, tells the story of a police officer whose life collides with a powerful assassin.

The film stars Sean Patrick Flanery, of “The Boondock Saints,” and… READ MORE
